Panasonic developed a robot becoming either a bed or wheelchair

Panasonic has developed bed-shaped robot, which can be transformable between a bed and a wheelchair with the user staying in bed or wheelchair. This product is clear indication of emergence of robots for real and good applications such as these.
The robot can transform itself from a bed into a wheelchair and vice versa by a user command and allow the user to move around in the house freely without the need of assistance from other people.
The Robotic Bed automatically assembles components as per the shape and can prevent collisions and accidents by detecting people and obstacles in its way.
Panasonic says this robot is easy to operate without any training. An intuitive controller allows the user to easily drive it and give it an instruction to go back into the bed.
The robot adjusts and optimizes the mattress to contours of the body shape. The robot aids the user to turn over to prevent bedsores.
This product also features Robotic Canopy, an information interface to watch television and to operate home appliances and checking the security camera connected by home network.
